The Cuban Martínez won the first gold at HMS in the triple jump, Kambundji won the 60th in the fourth time in history

The European woman’s victory in the shortest sprint was not surprising, but the leader of the world tables, Ewa Swobodová from Poland, was to strive for it. However, she did not start well and with a time of 7.04 she finished two thousandths fourth behind the bronze American Marybeth Santa-Pryce, who had the same time. Jamaican Shericka Jackson and Briana Williams also finished in fifth and sixth place.

Bronze defender Kambundji surprised all the favorites, running for the first time in her sixties and winning the first big title of her career. She defeated American Mikiah Priscova by three hundredths. Only for the fourth time in history did two sprinters in one race break the seven-second limit.

The golden present on the 24th birthday was given to the Tentoglu remote. After the initial tight run in the second series, the 855 jumped, improved the season maximum by three decimeters and clearly reached the top of the tables. He sentenced his opponent to fight for silver. The Swede Thobias Montler pushed for this in the last series thanks to the national record 838. The American Marquis Dendy finished third (827).

Auriol Dongm, the Portuguese with Cameroonian roots, was the best in the ball sector, adding the world title to last year’s European title. She responded to the attack of the American Chase Ealey, who took the lead with a continental record of 20.21 meters, in the fifth series with the best performance of this indoor season, 20.43.

Lázaro Martínez won the triple jump, which was the first final discipline at the championship in Belgrade. The Cuban national team won thanks to the first attempt, which measured 17.64 meters and means first place in this year’s tables. Another Cuban native, Pedro Pablo Picardo, who represents Portugal, improved the indoor national record to 17.46 and won silver after last year’s Olympic gold. The American Donald Scott (17.21) finished third, who was two centimeters ahead of the more famous compatriot Will Clay and won the first big medal at the age of thirty.

Twenty-four-year-old Martínez continued his success in the youth categories. He is a two-time junior world champion from 2014 and 2016 and a youth champion from 2013.
