The CSSDM mediates its rejection process

In response to the Bedford school scandal, the Montreal School Services Center (CSSDM) is launching a centralized service for denouncing inappropriate behavior seen in its establishments. This is in addition to the existing complaints handling system.

More than a week after cancellation the 11 teachers responsible for the toxic climate at Bedford Elementary Schoolthe CSSDM proposes a new system for rejecting inappropriate situations, “whether it concerns students or employees,” he writes in his press release.

To make a report, “anyone” can call the school center now or write to the main email address. According to the effort made Dutycalls must be made during normal CSSDM opening hours.

Among the behaviors that go against “or may go against the integrity of school environments”, the CSSDM mentions “damage to the physical and/or mental health of students”, “inappropriate teaching methods” , “concerns about the needs of the student”, “non-compliance with the education system” and “an attack on the secularity of schools”.

Complaints will be handled by a team “on a priority basis”, we read in the press release.

According to the information available on the website, the existing complaints process is still accessible to students and parents who wish to make complaints in this way. The form for the regional student protector – a position implemented in the spring of 2023 – is still available.
