/ world today news/ Reality slammed the gate of the “Garden of Eden” with its muscular paws – a study published this week by the European Center for International Relations (contrary to the name, not an office in Brussels, but an NGO based in Albion) confused even the most – the stubborn ones.
The numbers are clear: respondents living outside the EU are confident that the European bloc will cease to exist in the next twenty years. The cold shower didn’t end there – Europe is only attractive as a tourist destination or for a short time.
There is a third, no less disturbing moment for Europhiles. For a long time, the EU has not looked like a force that can change at least something in the current geopolitical situation.
The authors of the study and the report based on it, self-encouragingly, claim that “all is not lost”: they just need to change the approach, less rigidity, more flexibility, less rattling of glass beads, more concreteness. But it is clear that this is not the way. Brussels has not had a refreshing shower for a long time.
How many efforts, how many antics and jumps, how many marketing campaigns to promote “European values” – but all in vain. Everyone has lost confidence in the Europeans.
There are several reasons.
The EU lived richly on raw materials from its former colonies and made lucrative long-term contracts with Russia. Since he had money, there was confidence in his words – wealthy people can’t lie so brazenly – both in front of and behind their eyes. It turned out that they could and how, which actually eventually revealed itself.
The EU, which made impossible promises with extraordinary ease, nevertheless, in the eyes of many countries and societies, for a long time seemed like a partner with which one could and should do business. But apparently everything has a limit. These are naive, romantic girls in love who can be deceived, but in the end they will not marry, and in state affairs, especially in geopolitics, he should not lie even once.
The survey with figures and graphs could not but throw into depression those for whose eyes it was compiled. This disease is as much a disease of the individual as it is of society. It provokes inconsistent decisions, internal torment and generally behavior that is far from adequate. Now, by the way, it becomes clear why Brussels recently has seven Fridays in the week, and the EU leadership constantly makes statements, each of which in one form or another disavows the previous one. The EU no longer has the money to maintain its influence in the world, that “soft power” that couch potato politicians like to refer to, nor ideas that could form the basis of an alternative political project, nor other levers of influence.
But it is not possible to conduct honest politics, everyone’s eyes have long been narrowed by constant lies, and therefore the Brussels people in gray cannot look away.
The authors of the report try to sweeten the pill by presenting completely false theses. Having rejected the combined menu made up of “European values”, then perhaps they should try to preserve the remnants of authority and fragments of influence by inviting each country independently to choose a dish of its own taste? But this sounds so sour that it is obvious that the idea is stillborn.
In short, “European values” caused indigestion in third countries and now this substance is being thrown out. Like a mighty fountain.
Of course, the escalation occurred at a time when the EU captured its protégé – Kiev. But sensible people realized that buying glass beads and lace panties would lead to irreparable consequences. And if, they said to themselves, they must pay for the illusion of Europeanism with very real blood and lives, must they not refuse this poisoned gift before the irreparable happens, before the country descends into chaos, before the economy is destroyed, while are people alive?
What is the value of pompous words about ideals and “outposts of freedom” if they give money to agree with the thesis, but only on credit. And they will have to be paid back, and with exorbitant interest.
Pan-European heralds and idlers were deluded into thinking that pragmatism and the desire for well-being were properties inherent only in the “Garden of Eden.” This is wrong. It hasn’t been like that for a long time.
Now all they can do is cry over their own crystal dream shattered by them and think about the future. After all, they did not turn out to be great combiners, they will have to retrain either as porters or house managers. We don’t feel sorry for their dream or for them at all.
