The first half ended goalless between Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain, after both teams had a goal ruled out for offside.
But that did not mean that it was an uneventful event. Marseille’s home crowd made sure that things happened.
They were not very happy about PSG’s star Neymar. Every time he approached the supporters, bottles were thrown in his direction. Then the referee decided to cancel the match for a few minutes, but that did not stop the fans. It went so far that police with shields had to protect Neymar when he went out to hit a corner.
Leo Messi also had objects thrown at him in connection with a PSG corner. However, that was only the beginning of the saga between Messi and supporters, which would continue in the second half. A plan stormer seemed to have his sights set on the Argentine, but the police quickly arrived and stopped the man.
Despite the fact that the match was goalless, the drama continued. Achraf Hakimi was shown a red card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent’s quick free kick after an hour. But Marseille did not manage to take the chance then either, but the match ended equally at zero.
