Say hello to The Crossing – an impressive proposal to transform multi-storey car parks in urban areas into luxury retail and entertainment spaces. Proposed by Meredith O’Shaughnessy, this innovative project won third place in the Future Luxury Retail Design Competition. The proposal plans to repurpose the car parks to include intriguing amenities such as a whiskey bar! The jury for the Future Luxury Retail Design Competition was made up of visualization artist Charlotte Taylor, Halleroed co-founder Ruxandra Halleröd and Parisian concept store Colette co-founder Sarah Andelman.
“The concept of reusing parking lots was the real hook,” the judges said. “We liked how the concept responded to the aesthetics of the car park in a futuristic and ambitious way. “A parking lot is normally something so horrible that you want to get out of it immediately. This proposal reverses this idea in an inventive way.

The main attraction of the space would be the aforementioned whiskey bar, where guests could sip honey-infused cocktails from Bentley. The space will also include an exclusive section for media and VIP guests who can immerse themselves in Bentley’s material innovations. A high-tech loudspeaker room, which doubles as a listening booth and concert hall, would be set up on another floor. The space showcases Bentyle’s dynamic audio technology for cars.
As the space was once a parking lot, the Crossing will also feature driving tracks that extend around the building and across the roof, reminiscent of the spiral ramps typically found in parking lots. Visitors can choose from a series of settings that simulate landscapes through the projection of maps. They can thus create immersive and personalized experiences of grand tourism! “It allows new luxury customers to create a visceral emotional connection and experience the joy of being behind the wheel, without having to drive to an intimidating racetrack or drive down busy public roads,” said the designer. .
O’Shaughnessy also incorporated sustainability into every design step. They used innovation developed at the Dream Factory in Crewe and installed solar panels to power the entire building. The heart of the building will host nacelles filled with vegetation fed by recycled water systems.
