The white bandage is a trademark Karim Benzema in recent years. There is an unfortunate story behind the bandage that actually brings hockey to Benzema.
Benzema has just been named the winner Ballon d’Or 2022 two days ago, that was his first title in this event. Benzema’s election cannot be separated from his great performance last season.
In addition to leading Real Madrid to win La Liga and the Champions League, Benzema appeared brilliant with 44 goals and 15 assists. Together with the French national team, Benzema also presented the UEFA Nations League trophy.

During yesterday’s trophy award ceremony, Benzema took the stage and there was a moment that caught the attention of netizens. It was when Benzema greeted on stage, there was something odd about his right hand.
Yes, Benzema’s right little finger looks crooked, not as normal as the other nine fingers. The public may not be aware of this condition, because until now Benzema has always bandaged his hand with a bandage of the same color as the Real Madrid shirt.
It appears that Benzema’s little finger has been broken since January 2019 while defending Real Madrid against Real Betis. Benzema fell after being tackled by Marc Bartra and his right little finger became a support, so he eventually folded.

Benzema didn’t have surgery right away because it would have kept him out for a long time, while Real needed him to become a scorer. Understandably El Real just left Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2018.
Benzema underwent surgery at the end of the 2018/2019 season and it was a success. Unfortunately, Benzema suffered so much impact that his finger was injured again and he chose to use a bandage while he played rather than having to lose another long time.
Furthermore, after the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, which made surgery difficult for Benzema and last year he was called up again in the French national team so much that the summer was quite eventful.
Who would have thought, the white blindfold brought hockey to Benzema because he scored six goals in four games at the start of the 2019/2020 season. He led Real Madrid to become La Liga champions and Benzema scored 27 goals, after 30 goals in the previous season.
In the past three seasons since the bandage was on Benzema’s right hand, he has scored a total of 79 goals including five in 10 games this season. He led Real Madrid won two La Liga titles and the Champions League.
Perhaps this is also the reason Karim Benzema until now I still don’t want to undergo surgery, because crooked little finger brings good luck.
