I can’t believe it!
Anna Delvey, the super-con artist, the master crook, the world-class liar who convinced wealthy New Yorkers (and some of her close friends) that she was a wealthy German heiress in order to con them out of thousands of dollars… is on ABC’s Dancing with the stars!
The star of Anna’s invention at Netflix dancing the chacha, you couldn’t make it up!
What bad taste!
Delvey was convicted in 2019 of defrauding “banks, hotels and wealthy friends.”
Since her release from prison in 2022, she has been confined in New York (forced to wear an electronic bracelet on her ankle), but she has obtained an exemption from the authorities to go to California to participate in this ultra-popular televised dance competition.
Can you believe a magazine was concerned that Anna got a blister on her ankle from dancing with her electronic bracelet?
I believe in second chances. Artists who have faced justice have the right to practice their profession after serving their sentence.
But Anna Delvey is not an artist, except what Americans call an con artistsomeone who has a lot of talent for screwing his neighbor.
One of the show’s judges, Carrie Ann Inaba, said, “We should all give you a chance because I imagine this must be very scary for you.” Um, no, what’s scary is when you’ve given thousands of dollars to a compulsive liar.
The most shocking thing is the description of Anna Delvey that we find on the show’s page.
“Anna Delvey is an artist, fashion icon and celebrated New York socialite who gained international attention after Netflix purchased the rights to her story and developed it into the 2022 miniseries Inventing Anna.»
1) an artist; 2) a fashion icon; and 3) a celebrity. In that order, really? Why not have said 1) a criminal; 2) a criminal; and 3) a criminal?
If Anna Delvey had been Thomas Delvey, a 60-year-old bearded conman dressed in beige tracksuits bought on sale at Aubainerie, no one would have dedicated a series to her on Netflix, no one would have asked her to dance the chacha or the mambo on TV.
This is a case of positive discrimination for women.
A criminal in a petticoat is never perceived in the same way as a criminal in a suit. Especially if the petticoat is a Prada!
In its description, ABC also states: “Some consider her a cunning con artist, while others see her as a charismatic and ambitious entrepreneur who took advantage of New York’s social elite to try to open a prestigious art studio.”
Misery, a little more and we should erect a statue to him!
The directors of Dancing with the stars took bad taste to the point of making Anna Delvey dance in front of a set of perfume bottles with the initials AD, in front of shopping bags.
The girl swindled other people’s money to go on shopping trips and you glorify it on screen?
Anna Delvey danced with her electronic bracelet covered in glitter. What a symbol: America is ready to forgive anything to a liar/con artist… as long as she is bling-bling.
