One person died and another was injured in an act of violence in Ojakkala, Vihti.
A massive police operation was detected in the Ojakkala village of Vihti on Monday evening. Heavily armed policemen arrived at the area with flashing lights on and ordered the residents inside.
– Go inside and lock the doors, a local man tells Iltalehte about Monday night’s events.
The man had tried to go to see why an ambulance and the police arrived in the quiet residential area.
At the end of the road, policemen and ambulances were parked in droves. With submachine guns, the police pressed down the strip of forest between the detached houses.

Neighbors describe the couple as a peaceful couple. They had already lived in the apartment for a couple of decades – like many other pensioners on the same street. The man often worked in the front yard, the woman in the backyard in the vegetable garden.
– Ordinary people, says a woman living in the neighborhood.
The house next to the pensioner couple is surrounded by police tapes from a wider area. The entire yard is insulated. A family with children lives there. There are still toys around the yard.
The cops took out guns

The locals interviewed by Iltalehti saw or at least heard the sound of police cars, helicopters and drones and the barking of dogs on Monday evening.
An eyewitness was on an evening run at 21:50 ashore when he noticed the operation.
– A strange sight. There were four police cars, from one of which the policemen took weapons, the jogger says.
A medical helicopter had been ready in the adjacent field.
When the eyewitness came back from his run, he noticed the police still moving in the nearby woods. Soon, he received the same instructions from the police as other residents of the area: you should go home, the situation is still on.

The major police operation was the result of a suspected homicide. One person died and another was injured shortly after 9 p.m. The suspect is an adult man who knew his victim.
The police caught the man later near the scene.
One neighbor was still thinking about going for a dog walk at half past twelve in the evening, but he still saw the lights of the police in the woods.

– I have slept terribly badly and the situation is shocking. This is a tragedy, no matter what happened, one woman says.
The sense of security is understandably shaken, even though the neighbors already gathered on the streets on Tuesday to discuss the events.
– I would have hoped that the police would have come to the door to tell me that it is now safe, says the man who was at home with his children.
