The crew of the Blue Observer sailboat from Brest has just left the United States – Brest



Twenty days of sailing from Brest and somewhat capricious weather to reach the east coast of the United States. The sailors of Blue Observer brilliantly buckled their transatlantic against the prevailing winds and currents, aboard Jean-Luc Van Den Hede’s former monohull, reconditioned for the occasion.

Moored alongside the American oceanographic research vessel, Neil Armstrong, the seven sailors had little time to recharge their batteries. Provisioning, loading of the 78 new floats and training to activate the next floats … the crew only recorded a half-day of rest. Too short to push to New York or another nearby city.

After some repairs carried out on board, the crew set sail on Tuesday for a crossing in the diagonal of the Atlantic Ocean, towards the island of Saint Helena. Note that the first float in the series was released the day after leaving Brest (Sunday, November 14), in the “Canyon du Guilvinec”, which already smacked of the coming American continent …
