Stardew Valley creator Eric Baron shared information with fans about the progress of work on update 1.6.
One of the new features will be the addition of a large chest to the game, the capacity of which will be almost double that of a standard chest.
Baron also said that work is proceeding at a rapid pace. This is due to the fact that the developer himself imposed strong restrictions on himself.
Players are happy with the game’s progress, but there are also concerns that the Baron is becoming overworked. As one fan said:
While I wish he would have taken his time and not overworked himself to complete 1.6, I think we have to live with it because the creator himself chose to take on that amount of work.
When asked what motivates him to continue working on Stardew Valley, Baron responded with the following:
Lots of things, including the fact that so many people are still playing Stardew Valley and new players are joining every day. I want the game to be the best it can be. It will never be perfect, but I feel the need to constantly improve it. Now this is the most important work in my life, and it is very dear to me.
Initially, update 1.5 was supposed to be the last major patch, and 1.6 was going to make only minor changes to make life easier for modders. As he worked, Baron remembered how much fun he had developing Stardew Vallye and decided that the update would be much more ambitious.
Stardew Valley debuted in February 2016 on PC. After that, the game was ported to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation Vita consoles, as well as mobile devices running iOS and Android.
