At CinemaCon, studios can unveil exciting new discoveries, like a previously unknown movie that instantly becomes highly-anticipated after just a brief teaser. This phenomenon occurred in 2016 with Story of Your Life, later renamed Arrival, when Paramount showcased its footage. Along with this, it happened again recently when Disney screened a promotional trailer for The Creator at the convention. Directed by Gareth Edwards, known for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Godzilla, and Monsters, the film stars John David Washington (Tenet) and Gemma Chan (Eternals) and will be distributed by the 20th Century Studios. Scheduled to hit theatres on September 29, the plot unravels in a dystopian future following an apocalyptic war between humans and AI. The teaser offered a glimpse of a rundown sci-fi world of overgrown temples with tech upgrades, tribal nations, towering metal space stations in the sky, massive laser-beam shootings, and a child with a metal opening where his head should be. Edwards set the stage for action with his usual sci-fi theme in The Creator, which has the potential to be a blockbuster.
