Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, issued, on Sunday, an Emiri decree forming the new government headed by Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The new Kuwaiti government consists of 14 ministers in addition to the prime minister, including two female ministers.
According to the decree, the formation of the new government came as follows: Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense, where he remained in the position he held in the previous government, and Dr. Khaled Ali Muhammad Al-Fadil, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs. .
Dr. Badr Hamid Youssef Al-Mulla remained in his position as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs. Fahd Ali Zayed Al Shula was appointed Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Communications Affairs.
Abdul Rahman Badah Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi also retained his position as Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Wahhab Al-Awadi remained in his position as Minister of Health, and Dr. Amani Suleiman Abdel-Wahhab Boqmaz as Minister of Public Works, according to the decree.
Dr. Hamad Abdel-Wahhab Hamad Al-Adwani also remained in his position as Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education, Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and May Jassim Muhammad Al-Baghli retained the position of Minister of Social Affairs, Women’s Affairs and Childhood, according to (KUNA) news agency.
The new government also included Dr. Amer Muhammad Ali Muhammad, Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Mutlaq Nayef Omar Abu Raqba Al-Otaibi, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Muhammad Othman Muhammad Al-Aiban, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Manaf Abdulaziz Ishaq Al-Hajri, Minister of Finance and Minister of State. for Economic Affairs and Investment, according to the Emiri Decree.
The Kuwaiti government had submitted its resignation to the Kuwaiti Crown Prince, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on January 23, as a result of the exacerbation of differences between the executive and legislative authorities during the 2022 Parliament, which was invalidated by the Constitutional Court on March 19, and the National Assembly was restored in 2020. .
