Best attack in the five major European championships with 127 goals in all competitions, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen scored 12.5% of its goals from the 90th minute.
We suspected it was going to happen, we just wondered when: it was finally in the 90th + 6 minutes that Bayer Leverkusen snatched a draw against Stuttgart (2-2), Saturday in the Budesliga, and extended their invincibility at 46 matches, in progress since the start of the season.
Best attack in the five major European championships with 127 goals in all competitions (2.76 per match), Bayer scored no less than 16 goals from the 90th minute. That’s 12.5% of his total! That of Robert Andrich, Saturday, is also the eleventh which had a direct impact on the result. It should also be noted that 12 of these 16 goals were scored in 2024… or more than a quarter (26.1%) of Leverkusen’s goals since January! Furthermore, in 2024 alone, these goals in the “XabiTime” allowed the Werfself to collect 7 points in the Bundesliga.
29 goals from the 80th minute
The figure is also evocative if we widen the range of goals scored beyond the 80th minute. From what is theoretically the last ninth of the match, Bayer scored 29 of its 127 goals, or 22.8% of its total. 18 of them were scored in 2024, or 39.1% of his goals over this period!
Before Robert Andrich (90th+6, 2-2 against Stuttgart), Josip Stanisic (90th+7, 1-1 at Dortmund), Jeremie Frimpong (89th, 1-1 at West Ham), again Andrich and Patrik Schick (88th then 90th+1, 2-1 against Hoffenheim) changed a result in favor of the German champion, since the international break in March. Facing AS Roma on Thursday, Leverkusen will play their 47th match of the season, with the aim of remaining undefeated.
