The enthusiasm of the population was such after the call for volunteers to test a vaccine against Covid-19 that the telephone exchange quickly saturated, just like the website on which it is necessary to register, has- we indicated this Thursday at the CHU de Liège.

This Wednesday, the ATC Pharma clinical research center and the CHU de Liège, of which it is the main shareholder, launched a call for 600 volunteers aged 18 to 80 to test a vaccine against Covid-19. This call was heard so well that ATC Pharma’s telephone exchange was quickly saturated, as was its website to which callers were referred. The online platform is therefore encountering technical difficulties.

“We are delighted to see how much citizens are interested in being vaccinated,” said Benjamin Boinem, director of ATC Pharma. “This is one of the good news about this massive influx. We are working hard on the website to resolve these difficulties, ”he added.

Registrations therefore remain open and candidates are invited to retry their registration on the platform. www.atc-pharma.be.

This involves testing two vaccines in the last phase of development before they are put on the market. A first study will involve 300 so-called healthy volunteers, that is to say people not suffering from any disease or being medically stable and not planning to have a child in the six months following the first vaccination. For the second study, different profiles are sought. These are 300 people suffering from one or more pathologies: diabetes, obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, liver disease, lung disease, blood clotting problems. Again, volunteers should not plan to have a child within six months of vaccination and should be non-smokers and have not smoked for at least a year.

“During a phase III study, the volunteer is offered the opportunity to benefit from a vaccine before it is put on the market. The side effects and the optimal dosage of the vaccine are now known and have been approved by the FAMHP, the federal drug agency, during the first two phases of the test, ”says ATC Pharma.
