On June 15, the State Border Committee of Belarus announced the destruction of a Ukrainian drone that flew from the territory of Ukraine into the border zone in the Loevsky district of the Gomel region. According to the agency, there was an explosive device on board the drone.
According to the CPC, the incident on the border with Ukraine occurred at the end of May. It is reported that the sounds of the drone’s engine were heard by border guards from the Gomel border group, who were on duty. Visually detecting an aircraft in the sky, they shot it down with standard weapons, as a result of which “the element attached to the drone detonated,” the SPC reported.
However, in the video published on the official telegram channel of the department, neither the drone nor the explosion itself is visible. The recording was made at night and only the voices of the border guards are heard on it. One of them gives the order to keep quiet and disguise, orders to report on the use of weapons, after which shots are heard, and the same man gives the order to lie down and wonders if anyone was hurt. Further, in the GPK video, photos of the metal fragments of the drone, which were found by experts, are shown.
As explained in the Civil Procedure Code, after the incident at the border, the scene was examined by specialists and “multiple metal elements with traces of thermal impact” were found and seized.
“According to the results of the explosive examination of the seized elements, it was established that as a result of a bullet hit, an explosive device (ammunition) mounted on board a remotely piloted aircraft was detonated,” the department announced the results of the examination.
The Code of Civil Procedure also reported that the investigation into this fact continues, in particular, a check is underway within the framework of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
