In the investigation of the file, initiated at the request of IDG Insurance Brokers OOD, it was established that SDI Group in an advertising campaign related to the prices of home insurance uses a graphical representation of the price of the product with misleading character – “standard price“which is crossed out and below which the reduced price is indicated. The Commission considers that the manner in which it is presented is misleading in so far as that insurance was never offered by the respondent company to that company.”standard price“for the respective packages. The fact is also taken into account that the indicated insurance is offered in a permanent reduction, which also contradicts the normative requirements for the content and scope of the message for reduction of prices, added by the CPC.
“Presented in this way, the advertisement contradicts the bona fide commercial practice, aiming to highlight and promote the implementation of the activities of the respondent company in an illegal manner,” the antitrust authority said.
