DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys enjoyed their best game in years Sunday, in a historic win over the Vikings in Minnesota. But they didn’t even have time to digest it, much less celebrate.
The Cowboys defeated the Minnesota Vikings 40-3 in what was the largest road win in franchise history, one of several records they set for the club and the NFL.
Dallas had not started its first seven offensive drives with a touchdown or field goal since 1978, when the league expanded the regular season to 16 games.
“Being able to go out there and score points in the first seven series was about setting the pace for the game and having everyone play their part,” Prescott said. “Honestly, I never even imagined it would be like this.”
The running back’s 189 total yards had a lot to do with it. Tony Pollar and the almost perfect match of Dak Prescott, which included three touchdown passes, with no interceptions. He took his offense to 458 total yards in a game that saw the starters start early in the fourth quarter.
“You have to give everyone credit,” he added. “Each player did his job and our defense took care of the rest as always.”
The defensive chair had the most influence, which had seven catches for the quarterback Kirk cousinswhich stopped in just 110 yards and the receiver Justin Jefferson on three completes for 33 yards…
The Vikings’ total offense was 183 yards against the Dallas defense, which a week earlier had allowed the Green Bay Packers to come from behind by 14 points early in the fourth quarter.
“This is how it should be every week,” the linebacker said. Not Parsons. “There shouldn’t be any gaps. We have to play aggressive football. We show what we are capable of sometimes, but we have to be consistent. Consistency wins championships, not just flashes.”
But all that was left behind. The Cowboys, who landed early Monday morning in Dallas, already had their first practice today, heading into the game this Thursday, Thanksgiving, against the New York Giants, who lost at home to the Detroit Lions Sunday.
“You’re only as good as your last game,” Prescott said. “For me, it’s just about working and being ready for the next one. This Thursday we have a Thanksgiving game against a very good team.”
Parsons was not part of the no-equipment workout due to the ankle and knee injuries he sustained against the Vikings.
Four other players did not train either, but due to a disease other than COVID, without specifying: the defensive linemen Tarell Basham, Dante Fowler Jr. yes Jonathan Hankinsas well as the cornerback Kelvin Joseph.
The corridor Ezekiel Elliott and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwawere limited, both due to knee discomfort.
For the Giants it was not, in Monday’s prop-less practice, the linemen Joshua Ezeudu yes Jon Feliciano, both with neck complaints. They also didn’t practice with cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (knee) and receiver Richie James (knee), the deep Fabian Moreau (oblique) and narrow Daniel Bellinger (Oio).
offensive lineman Eve Neal (knee) and defensive back Jason Pinnock (jaw) were limited.
“This is honestly the most fun part of the year for me,” Elliott said. “Who doesn’t love to go out and play instead of having to train so hard all week? The next couple of days are a lot of mental work.”
