The coronavirus pandemic leaves 36 infections in the province of León since Friday, according to data updated by the Junta de Castilla y León. There are no outbreaks or deaths in either of the two hospitals in the province, which remain with 1,743 deaths since the pandemic began in March 2022.
This stable trend of the pandemic occurs one week after masks are eliminated on public transport, as announced by the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias. The decision will be made in a council of ministers on February 7.
The International Health Regulations (2005) Emergency Committee (IHR) agreed on Friday to continue to consider covid-19 a public health emergency of international concern.
And it is that, although the committee has recognized that the pandemic may be approaching a tipping point, “there is no doubt” that this virus will continue to be a permanently established pathogen in humans and animals for the future and, therefore, it is necessary critically long-term public health action.
