The coronavirus is behind two deaths that occurred in the last 24 hours at the General Hospital of Segovia. Since July 31 of last year there was not such a deadly day due to this disease. The calendar has cleared 194 days since the last time there were two deaths of infected patients. With these deaths, the first of this February in which the ban on wearing masks on public transport has been lifted, so far in 2023 six Segovians have died with covid.

Deaths in the reference health complex in the province have shot up to 475 since the start of the health alert, almost three years ago. In total, in this time in which the pandemic is lengthening, 1,261 Segovians have died with coronavirus, according to data collected as of this Friday by the Ministry of Health of the Junta de Castilla y León. One in five people who have died in the province since that fateful month of March 2020, was infected or presented symptoms compatible with those of the infection.

In addition, these same statistics from the regional Administration highlight that in the last 72 hours there have been eight new admissions to the floor of the General Hospital of Segovia after having spent five days without having had hospitalizations linked to the coronavirus.

None of these patients has required treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the healthcare complex. On the floor there are, to this day, seven patients with coronavirus who have required hospitalization.

Likewise, Health reports an active outbreak of community contagion, notified by the Regional Health Service of the Junta in Segovia, with 19 cases of covid infection. Regional sources confirm the surveillance of the epidemiological evolution that is being carried out on this focus, declared in the first week of this February in a socio-sanitary center in the town of Prádena. Between last Tuesday the 7th and today Friday the 10th, a new positive for the elderly has been ratified through the relevant detection tests that are carried out, from which the stabilization trend followed in recent days can be deduced.
