The organization of Christmas festivities has been stopped for several weeks in Montluçon, but with the progression of Covid-19 contaminations and the measures announced last Thursday by the government, this could change.
Alric Berton, deputy in charge of the festivities, participates in a meeting in the sub-prefecture, this Monday morning, November 29, on a possible adjustment of the access rules.
“We don’t want to cancel”
We can imagine the obligation to wear a mask or even a health pass. Nothing is done, but in any case, “we do not want to cancel”, insists Mayor Frédéric Laporte.

The festivities will be launched this Friday, December 3 with the Christmas lights, at 6 p.m., at the same time as the ice rink, place Piquand, at the foot of the castle of the Dukes of Bourbon.
The synthetic equipment will occupy 250 m² and will be open until January 2, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday, and until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday (€ 3 for children under 12, € 4 for the adults). Fairground activities will complete the entertainment.
The Christmas market is back in the heart of the city
As we announced on November 6, the market returns this year to downtown, avenue Marx-Dormoy. The twenty-four planned chalets are already installed. Alric Berton reassures:
I know some are apprehensive about the starlings, which have stayed longer this year with the heat. The necessary measures are taken, with scaring campaigns. On December 10, the starlings will no longer be there.
