The Bastia car park subscription card is the object of much covetousness. Happy are the users who have been beneficiaries of it often for many years and who would not risk abandoning it. A loyalty to this little magnetic rectangle which does not bring happiness to hundreds of waiting applicants. Every month, nearly 60 requests are filed at the service of the autonomous management of Bastiais parking lots. Hundreds of subscribers on the waiting list
Head behind the scenes of the park management, where the requests are stored to understand why these subscription cards, for a monthly amount of €65are distributed dropwise. “The management has no interest in not satisfying demand but we cannot issue more cards than the number of existing places,” confides Daniel Mario, general director of the autonomous Bastia car park authority since its creation in 2007. It is therefore impossible to push the walls of the five car parks which, in total, offer 1,758 spaces.
And yet, where usually, it is recommended to establish 1/3 of subscribers and 2/3 of passages, all parks combined, the subscription rate in Bastia flirts with 90%. But the waiting list remains as long as ever.“As soon as a place becomes available, we do our best to reallocate the card as quickly as possible”, assures the director who agreed to provide some advice. The first concerns the application procedure which must be sent by handwritten mail, stamped by the postal agency, or by e-mail. In return, the applicant receives a letter acknowledging receipt to verify the civility of the persons. His place on the waiting list is then indicated to him.
Point number 2: favor the citadel car park, where turnover is greatest. For the station park, considered the most strategic, the delays are however the longest.
Indication number 3: there is no need to imagine getting a space in the market parking lot. No waiting list is even open. This park, formerly managed by Vinci, had more subscribers than available places. Since 2017, the authority intends to correct this situation as subscriptions become available. Exactly, how many contracts end each year? “It’s not linear. It depends on the parks and the years, moves or deaths.” Difficult to obtain an exact wait time estimate. Years for sure. Registered since 2017 on the waiting list at Place Saint-Nicolas, a user thinks he is in 183rd place. “In the meantime, I have a monthly subscription card that I am renewing,” confides this Bastia resident. This monthly formula corresponds to the conference card which can be issued monthly or weekly, without assurance of being renewed. Every year, the waiting list is refreshed. But to obtain a subscription, the golden rule remains time.
