The court rejected the petition for the insolvency of Šlágr television

The Regional Court in České Budějovice rejected the petition for the insolvency of Šlágr television, which was submitted by the Czech Digital Group last November. It follows from protocol, which the court published in the insolvency register.

Disputes between the Czech Digital Group and the folk music station culminated last August, when the operator switched off the Šlágr signal in its terrestrial digital network due to debts. The television subsequently reached an agreement with the competing operator Digital Broadcasting and has been broadcasting on DVB-T2 Multiplex 24 ever since.

Czech Digital Group proposed that the court declare bankruptcy on Šlágr’s property due to over-indebtedness. According to the operator, the television owed not only him but also other companies, while the debts for signal propagation alone reached tens of millions of crowns.

Šlágr does not acknowledge the debt to Czech Digital Group and questions the claim, stating that the signal distribution agreements were in conflict with good morals. During several months of the insolvency proceedings, the television paid its liabilities to other companies, including České Radiokomunikace, the parent company of the Czech Digital Group.

One of the smaller debts to České Radiokomunikace in the amount of approximately CZK 35,000 was paid by Šlágr directly during the break in Wednesday’s court hearing. The protocol states that the television proved its financial situation, among other things, by placing its legal representative on the table in cash EUR 1,000 and CZK 10,000 directly at the meeting.

However, television has not yet paid anything to Czech Digital Group. “All receivables were paid and only one receivable remained, and that is the claimant’s receivable. In the debtor’s opinion, however, the claimant’s claim is so controversial that it goes beyond the scope of insolvency proceedings and should be resolved in the finding of dispute proceedings, “the court protocol describes the reaction of Šlágr’s representatives.

According to the preliminary insolvency administrator, the television had monthly expenses of around CZK 3.6 million in March this year, while its monthly turnover was CZK 3.5 million. The Šlágr TV company has been legally in liquidation since January due to the owners’ decision. According to the liquidator, CZK 1.75 million is currently in profit.
