S The court questioned new witnesses during a regular hearing in the case against Orlin Vladimirov for the murder of his wife Evgenia Chorbanova. The man’s father is also a defendant in the case.
After the victim’s parents were questioned at the previous hearing, today the court questioned the murdered woman’s brother, as well as Gabriel Dimitrov, who said he had an intimate relationship with Evgenia, BTA reported.
Nikolay, Evgenia’s brother, told the court that they were very close.
He described Orlin Vladimirov as a person who does not express any emotions. According to him, since 2020, the relationship between the couple began to deteriorate, and they often quarreled over small things. Nikolai also told that Orlin was in his pajamas and was getting ready to go to bed at night, when he told her relatives that Evgenia had disappeared while he was looking for her. After that, he did not actively participate in her search either. Nikolai also said that he found out from a friend of his sister that she wanted to break up with Orlin.
In the previous meeting, Evgenia’s mother – Kapka Chorbanova stated,
that according to her and her husband, the motive for the crime was not jealousy, but material – the money for an apartment that Evgenia and Orlin wanted to buy.
The court also questioned Gabriel Dimitrov, who said he had an intimate relationship with Evgenia.
They met in the summer of 2021, first being friends, and then their relationship deepened, which continued until her disappearance. Dimitrov added that he saw Evgenia the day before she disappeared. They met in different places, and in one case, Evgenia’s friend called her to tell her that the car of one of the defendants was near the place where they were. According to him, Evgenia suspected that her husband was following her online. She also told him that she and her husband had many scandals.
Meanwhile, relatives and friends of the murdered woman again gathered in front of the courthouse in Sofia to demand life imprisonment for Vladimirov.
We remind you that the body of Evgenia Chorbanova was discovered in 2021 in a suitcase in a reservoir. She went missing in October and her body was found in November. The husband of the murdered woman used her phone and her profiles in communication applications. He also participated in the search for his wife. According to the investigators, the father, Plamen Vladimirov, assisted his son in covering up the traces of the crime. The prosecution states that the crime was committed in a particularly distressing way for the victim and that she was aware of what was happening.
