(Vatican News Network) All major religions will say no to war in Berlin from September 10 to 12 at an international gathering called “The Courage for Peace”. This is the 37th event held in the “Spirit of Assisi” since Pope John Paul II prayed together with the leaders of the world’s major religions for the first time.
According to the announcement of the organizers of the event, the Sant’Egidio community, in cooperation with the Catholic Church and the Evangelical Church of Berlin, the event will be held in an era of high walls and smoldering wars. Participants came from 33 countries around the world, as well as delegations from Christian churches, Islam, Judaism and other religions.
In addition, the participants included: German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Grand Imam of Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, Italian Bishop Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, chairman of the congregation, Pinchas Goldschmidt, president of the European Association of Jewish scribes, and Mar Awa Royel, Patriarch of the Assyrian Church who came from Iraq.
