Strasbourg (dpa / lsw) The state of Baden-Württemberg, Alsace and the EU Parliament want to work more closely together in the future in order to raise political and historical awareness among young people in the region. This emerges from a declaration of intent that was signed in the EU Parliament in Strasbourg on Thursday. “We absolutely have to stand together (…) and strengthen the links between the citizens and the (European) Union,” said the President of the Alsace European Regional Authority, Frédéric Bierry, according to a statement. Rainer Wieland, Vice-President of the EU Parliament, and Elisabeth Laporte, Rector of the Strasbourg Academy, also took part in the ceremony. Muhterem Aras, President of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg, and Volker Schebesta, State Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, were connected via video.
