The chairman of the board of “SEB banka” Ieva Tetere has been re-elected as the chairman of the board of the financial industry association for the next one-year term, the representatives of the association informed.
The Association Council is made up of six members. The chairman of the board of “Swedbank” Lauris Mencis, the head of the Latvian branch of “Luminor Bank” Kerli Varesa, the member of the board of the bank “Citadele” Valters Ābele, the chairman of the board and executive committee of “BluOr Bank”, the chief executive officer Dmitrijs Latiševs, “Development financial institution “Altum” ” board member Inese Zīle, as well as Tetere.
Tetere points out that it is essential to ensure not only the stability and sustainable development of the financial sector, but also to promote public awareness and education about personal financial management. This includes the ability not only to protect yourself from financial scams, but also the knowledge of opportunities to make free funds earn.
Thus, according to Teteres, as the chairman of the association’s council, she will advocate for strengthening financial literacy in Latvian society. In the coming years, there will also be a significant emphasis on explaining the topic of sustainability, as banks continue to be one of the main driving forces in promoting the green transformation.
The goal of the Financial Industry Association is to purposefully improve the environment of business and financial services in Latvia in cooperation with partners of the state, non-state sector and other sectors, as well as to promote the international reputation and competitiveness of the Latvian financial sector. The main tasks of the association council are to determine the strategic directions of action and to form the position of the association and to approve positions on strategically important issues.
Currently, the Financial Industry Association unites 32 members and associate members, forming a cooperation platform and representation of interests of finance, technology and related industries in Latvia, the Baltic States and Europe. The association also represents the interests of members in the Confederation of Latvian Employers, the European Banking Federation and the Federation of European Leasing Company Associations “Leaseurope”.
