“The cost raises eyebrows!” Kariņš did not know how much it costs to fly with private planes

Kariņš emphasized that the report of the State Audit Office is quite legal and he does not fully understand everything, but one thing is clear, that there was a collision between the State Chancellery on the one hand and the State Audit Office and the General Prosecutor’s Office on the other.

“It is about the interpretation, the understanding that the law allows. In the opinion of the State Chancellery, the law allows organizing the work of the prime minister in this way,” said the former Prime Minister.

Kariņš stated that at the time when special flights were used, he did not know the costs, but now, when he finds out, “eyebrows are raised”. He explained that together with his office, he made political decisions about what the prime minister’s daily life should be.

I don’t think about it further, whether it’s legal or illegal. If I am told that it is possible, legal and not to worry about it, then it is,” said the former prime minister.

He emphasized that it is not yet clear whether the law has been violated, as some believe it has not, while others are convinced that it has. Kariņš said that the State Audit Office audits the State Chancellery every year. According to the former prime minister, reports from the State Audit Office have been received year after year, the summary part of which notes that everything is in order in the State Chancellery, without pointing out any gaps in the law or procedures.
