Battery prices are also a topic of discussion when talking about hybrid cars. However, for hybrid cars, the price of batteries is apparently not as expensive as pure electric cars. One example is the price of the Kijang Innova Zenix hybrid battery, which turns out to be less than half the price of the car itself.
PT Toyota Astra Motor Marketing Director Anton Jimmi Suwandy said the price of the Innova Zenix hybrid battery is under IDR 50 million.
“Hybrid batteries are not too expensive, in fact right now we don’t have a price because there haven’t been any problems, but around IDR 40 (million),” said Anton when met in Tokyo last week.
Even though the price reaches tens of millions, Anton emphasized that the condition of the battery embedded in the Zenix hybrid has been adapted to Indonesian conditions so that it can last longer.
“The generation is already fifth, a few years ago it was still the third generation if Innova jumped to fifth. Because we know that Indonesia is hot, the roads are damaged, so it has to be stronger,” explained Anton.
For information, the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV uses a Ni-MH battery type which is packaged in a compact package and stored under the two front seats. The battery has a capacity of 1.31 kWh.
There is also a filter on the battery cooling air channel cover, so that dust buildup in the cooling path can be suppressed, to prevent a decrease in battery life due to increasing battery temperature.
It should be noted, Toyota provides a guarantee of up to 8 years or 160,000 km (whichever comes first) for the battery on the Innova Zenix hybrid and bZ4X. This guarantee applies to replacement or damage. Consumers can make this warranty claim throughout the Toyota dealer network throughout Indonesia.
