Dr. Ahmed Al-Borai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Suez Governorate, said that the comprehensive health insurance project is a giant medical project launched by the Egyptian government in implementation of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s directives to develop the health system and improve the medical service provided to the Egyptian citizen.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Burai indicated that comprehensive health insurance will cover all Egyptians without discrimination, as it registers the entire Egyptian family, not individually, indicating that the initial cost of the system is more than 3 billion pounds.
In his interview with the media, Mervat El-Meligy, presenter of the “Good Morning Egypt” program, which is shown on Channel One and the Egyptian Satellite Channel, Al-Burai added that the population of the governorate is 760,000 citizens, and they will fully benefit from the system: “During the preparation of the law, all the numbers were covered. And the distribution of units over the population and residential areas, and linking the population with them. The governorate was completely covered by 27 units, centers and 4 hospitals.
And the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Suez Governorate continued: “The amount allocated to health insurance in Suez, as a start, is 3 billion and 180 million pounds, and the establishment of the medical complex costs about 2 billion, meaning that it has the lion’s share of the cost, because it is a huge and comprehensive complex and is considered the first of its kind.”
And Dr. Ahmed Al-Buraei, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Suez Governorate, added that the number of beds in this complex is 116 beds and will provide complete services with high medical quality in medical departments, whether specialized or transplant surgeries, and it also contains a specialized center for heart, ophthalmic surgery, gynecology and childbirth services and services. Laboratories and radiology services, all of this in an advanced and sophisticated way at the latest level, in addition to a special department for nephrology and urology, care departments, a burn unit and an endoscopy unit.
