The Corruption Case of Lontar Village Fund: A Wider Responsibility

In his considerations, presiding judge Dedy Adi Saputra said it was impossible for Aklani to carry out the Village Fund corruption alone in 2020. That village administration was carried out by a team consisting of witness Sukron Makmun as the financial implementation team, witness Edi Mustari as the government implementation team, M Fendi as planning implementation, witness Kholid as administration and general affairs.

According to the judge, the people above who have been used as witnesses have their respective roles in managing the Village Fund. For the resolution of this case to be complete, there must be another party who is responsible besides the defendant Aklani.

“So, to resolve this case, there must be other parties who must be held accountable, namely Sukron Makmun as Head of Finance, Edi Mustari as the government implementation team, M Fendi as the planning implementation team, and Kholid as the administration and general executive,” said Dedy. in consideration of the verdict which was read out on Wednesday (29/11/2023).

Sentenced to 5 Years

Aklani was sentenced to 5 years in prison and a fine of IDR 300 million subsidiary 2 months. This sentence is one year lighter than the prosecutor’s request.

“Declaring that Defendant Aklani has been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption as in the subsidiary indictment. Sentencing him, therefore, to 5 years and a fine of IDR 300 million with the provision that if he is not paid, he will be sentenced to 2 months in prison,” said Dedy.

The defendant was also sentenced to Rp. 790 million in compensation. The replacement money is the state loss of IDR 988 million minus IDR 198 million which has been returned to the state.

“If it is not paid within one month after this decision becomes legally binding, then the property will be confiscated, and if it is not sufficient, the sentence will be up to 2 years,” he said.

The defendant admitted that the 2020 Village Fund money was spent on karaoke and say LC in Cilegon City. The defendant and his staff made the money on a spree.

“Karaoke, Your Majesty. Just sing. Yes, if it’s entertainment every day,” he said on Tuesday (31/10).

The saweran, he said, was given to the woman who accompanied him and the staff during karaoke. He said that every karaoke must be with village employees, from the village secretary to the village head.
