The coronavirus multiplies in Colombia with 95,043 cases and 3,223 deaths

The coronavirus is advancing unchecked in Colombia towards 100,000 cases after authorities confirmed another 3,274 infections and 117 deaths this Monday, with the outbreaks concentrated in Bogotá and the departments of the Caribbean region where the pandemic multiplies.

With the figures of this Monday, June 29, the country accumulates 95,043 infections and 3,223 deaths (3.39%), while the recovered patients are 39,954, equivalent to 42%, and there are 51,707 active cases (54.40%), according to the bulletin of the Ministry of Health.

As has happened throughout June, Bogotá and the Atlántico department, and especially Barranquilla, its capital, counted again this Monday the highest number of infections and deaths from the disease.

In the Colombian capital, on June 29, 1,392 new infected people were registered, and in the Atlantic, one of the smallest departments in the country, there were 729, almost half of them in Barranquilla.

There were also notable increases in Valle del Cauca (160), Bolívar (157), Antioquia (143), Nariño (123), Tolima (111), Córdoba (102) and Sucre (61).

Bogotá and Atlántico also lead the accumulated number of infected, with 29,320 and 22,777 cases respectively, followed by far by Valle del Cauca (9,628), Bolívar (8,949), Antioquia (4,232), Nariño (3,307), Cundinamarca (2,574), Amazonas (2,276), Magdalena (1,774), Chocó (1,452), Meta (1,229) and Sucre (1,153).

In Sucre, which is also part of the Caribbean region, COVID-19 has begun to spread rapidly and today recorded the unprecedented number of 12 deaths, all in Sincelejo, its capital.

However, the Atlantic had the highest number of deaths of the day, with 45, of which 26 were in Barranquilla and 14 in the neighboring town of Soledad, which is part of its metropolitan area.

Those figures, although high, are lower than those of the last four days when the Atlantic recorded 81, 73, 60 and 86 deaths daily.

Likewise, today there were a high number of deaths in Bogotá, with 25, and in the also Caribbean departments of Bolívar (13), Córdoba (6), La Guajira (4) and Magdalena (3).

The rest of the deaths took place in Valle del Cauca and Chocó, three in each, as well as in Amazonas, Cauca and Nariño, which totaled one at a time.

According to the Colombian Government, there are 487 conglomerates with significant foci of covid-19 in the country and today 17,609 tests were carried out, for a cumulative 743,437 tests carried out.
