More than 70 students at a university in Taiyuan, the capital of northern China’s Shanxi Province, suffered from diarrhea and vomiting a few days ago.

As a result of this incident, the Shanxi University of Finance and Economics carried out disinfection in dormitories, classrooms, canteens and other public areas. It has also strengthened health education and monitoring of norovirus symptoms in all teaching staff and students.
According to the Chinese CDC Global Times, more than 30 norovirus outbreaks have actually been reported nationwide since September, involving 1,500 cases.
This Norovirus comes from a completely different family from the Covid-19 corona virus which is spread through body respiratory fluids. Because, norovirus can be spread between humans through contact with the feces of an infected person.
Most cases of norovirus come from canteens, where people take a break to eat and maybe eat a lot of contamination with the virus.
Lin Minggui, director of the infectious disease department of Beijing’s Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, also pointed out that this norovirus infection occurs more frequently in schools, suggesting weaknesses and health systems.

If someone is infected with norovirus, they will experience gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea within 24 hours of eating.
