The Core i7-11700K outperforms the Ryzen 9 5950X in a single-threaded test

Intel already according to the leaked roadmap is to have Rocket Lake-S QS (Qualification Sample) processors available from the beginning of this month and wants to produce them from January. We can thus assume that those processors that are currently being tested already have the final specifications, so we can already take into account the test results and compare them with the competition. –

Rocket Lake-S processors promise to increase performance per clock (IPC), which has not been the case with Intel for a long time, and also offer PCIe 4.0 and Xe graphics, which are three main innovations that can make the last 14nm generation interesting.

In terms of overall multi-core or multi-threaded performance, Intel has no chance of catching up with Rocket Lake-S, as it can build the best 8-core Core i7-11700K against the 16-core Ryzen 9 5950X. However, when it comes to the performance of a limited number of cores, in this case Intel would not have to be so bad and, as we mentioned earlier, it could once again earn a leading position among game processors. Of course, it will very much depend on what games he uses for the tests that should convince us of that.

We have the result of the Core i7-11700K processor, but above it will be the Core i9-10900K model. In both cases, however, it is an 8C / 16T CPU with the main difference only in the form of cycles. The Core i7 should end at 5 GHz, while the Core i9 at 5.3 GHz thanks to Thermal Velocity Boost support. Thanks to this, the Core i7-11700K could be a very interesting processor in terms of price and performance, but we’ll wait for that, because of course we don’t know the prices yet.

However, the result of 1807 points in the single-threaded test is really interesting. The current Core i7-10700K offers only about 1350 points (and 8970 in the multi-threaded test) and the Rocket Lake-S is also in this version in the single-threaded test even about 7 percent faster than the Ryzen 9 5950X.

CPU Cores / fibers So you One core – score Multiple cores – score
Intel Core i7-11700K 8C/16T 3,6 GHz/5,0 GHz
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16C / 32T 3,4 GHz/4,9 GHz
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8C/16T 3,8 GHz/4,7 GHz
Intel Core i9-10900K 10C/20T 3,3 GHz/5,3 GHz
Intel Core i7-10700K 8C/16T 3,8 GHz/5,1 GHz

But let’s wait for the next tests, which should now multiply.
