The Core i7-11700K has already been tested on Anandtech, how’s it going?

Sales of processors Rocket Lake-S at Mindfactory in Germany it will probably still be over, even though we probably won’t know what it will be like. However, it is clear that Intel was unable to oversee the start of sales of its new processors, and at least over a hundred Core i7-11700Ks have already been sold to end customers. And as we have written several times, these processors can be very popular due to the fact that they offer 8 cores as well as the new Core i9, only at lower beats and these can be increased thanks to the unlocked multiplier. So the performance-price ratio of the new Core i7 can and probably will be much more interesting than in the case of the Core i9. –

Server Anandtech One of the Core i7-11700Ks sold has already been tested, with the accompanying statement that the information embargo (NDA) applies to information about Intel’s next-generation processors in general. However, the mentioned processor has already appeared on the market, ie the NDA does not apply to it by definition, as well as for the information that can be obtained by using it or testing it. Anandtech also let Intel know in advance that the processor review would be released before March 30, which the company basically did not comment on in its answer, which means that it is obviously aware that nothing can be done about it. –

Anandtech has paid $ 469 per processor, but this will not be the final dollar price, but rather the European price expressed in dollars. And what did he get for her? In terms of rendering performance, the new Core i7 failed to outperform the Ryzen 7 5800X processor, not even in the single-threaded version of the test, of course. We’ll see what the new Core i9 can do, but it can be expected to match the performance of a given Ryzen at best, with the Core i9 competing more for the Ryzen 9 5900X in terms of price.

A number of other tests also show that AMD doesn’t have to worry much, because with a few exceptions its 5800X is more powerful and in some tests (GIMP) the new Core i7-11700K can’t surpass even the Core i9-9900KS. On the other hand, when it comes to applications capable of using the AVX-512 instructions, Rocket Lake-S is unbeatable. And what about games?

Intel would certainly like to take the title of the manufacturer of the most powerful game processors again, but it will probably be difficult for him to do so. Sometimes Intel couldn’t even beat himself, other times he led Ryzen 7 (Borderlands 3) and in only one test (Gears Tactics) the new Core i7 was the most powerful, but with only two shots separating it from the old 9900KS.

So when it comes to game tests on Anandtech, according to them, Intel can’t expect game champions. But let’s wait, on the one hand, the new Core i9 has not been presented yet, and then it remains to be seen what will arrange the new microcodes, due to which Intel postponed the start of the whole new generation to the end of March.
