In conversation with Blu Radio, the country’s highest president referred to this issue, arguing that there are no reasons to suspend the Copa América.

It would be absurd if the Copa América is not played here when the Eurocup is going to be played, especially when the epidemiological figures are similar or even worse there, ”said Duque.
Likewise, the president of Colombia explained that tournaments have normally been held in other countries, so there are no reasons why the tournament should be suspended: “The local tournaments have been played in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru, without problems, we already have experience in the protocols. What was yet to be defined was whether it was done with Argentina or not, I have said that a very nice message is to do it both. What Minister Lucena has conveyed to me is that the Cup is going to be held and it will be held in both countries ”.
Therefore, The Copa América will continue as planned: the first match will be played in Colombian territory on June 13.
