The Cooperativa de Taxis de La Laguna will reopen a repair shop for the sector
The City Council of La Laguna (Tenerife) has found a legal solution so that the Taxis Cooperative can provide maintenance services to the sector in its premises, located on the Camino de La Villa.
The mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the councilor for Citizen Security, Alejandro Marrero, recently held a meeting with the representatives of society to inform them about the path that, according to the Urban Planning Management, should now be followed to reopen the workshop repair and washing of vehicles, according to the municipality of Lagunero through a press release.
The organization thanked the consistory for the work carried out to facilitate the expansion of its activity, which had been partially suspended and which can now be resumed once the entity submits its request, in which it must specify the use it wants to give its facilities.
This was indicated by the City Council:
“During the meeting, the local corporation and the Cooperative advanced in the steps that must be taken for the latter to obtain authorization.”
The company reported that the intention is to recover the repair shop and vehicle washing, improving the attention it currently provides to the sector, made up of 360 taxi drivers, in the case of La Laguna, according to the data that handles the entity.
However, they indicated that their services are not limited to the municipal scope, reaching 600 clients from different parts of the island and even from El Hierro.
Lagunero taxi drivers have been present in recent months for less kind reasons, especially because of their discomfort with the Los Rodeos tram project and the problems that the pandemic has generated.
Not surprisingly, last month the approval of the call for direct subsidies for freelancers belonging to the taxi sector was published to alleviate the consequences of the reduction in activity for the management of the health crisis caused by covid-19.
