According to police spokeswoman Eva Michalíková, the good cooperation with a woman from Brno, which the selected man offered stolen saddles, confirmed that they were on the right path. The man contacted several people on the Internet and offered them saddles at fractional prices.

The capture of the suspect soon came. The man arranged a meeting with his wife in Brno, at which he was to hand over her saddles. “Ostrava criminal investigators, in cooperation with their Brno colleagues in the parking lot in front of one of the supermarkets, detained a suspicious man who had five stolen riding saddles in his car. These were secured and will be returned to the owners,” said Michalíková.

According to her, the man took care of technical maintenance in the equestrian club and decided to steal and sell the saddles because he had large debts and wanted to solve his bad financial situation. “During the interrogation, he told the commissioner that he regretted his actions. As he committed these actions during the declared state of emergency, he now faces up to eight years in prison,” the spokeswoman said.
