The Controversy Surrounding Soviet Animation: “Plasticine Crow” by Alexander Tatarsky

The harmless picture only caused discontent.

Soviet animation is rightfully considered one of the best in the world. Cartoons from that era still attract the attention of artists from all over the world, and fans never cease to shower them with compliments, comparing them with modern hits. At the same time, some works recognized at home only face criticism abroad.

Thus, the public was not delighted with “Plasticine Crow” by Alexander Tatarsky. Viewers did not like the experimental animation style, the plot itself, or the characters. Many considered the artist’s work to be too primitive, and its rating too high. After all, in their opinion, only newborn children can watch “Plasticine Crow.”

“Such animation is suitable only for children, but not for teenagers. And the rating really amazes me. By all accounts, this is one of the best animated short films. Are you seriously?!” – Internet users are indignant.

In addition, the cartoon, according to many, did not deserve such a large number of awards and should give way to other, more worthy works.
