Representative Jamil Al-Sayed pointed out, in a post on his account via the “X” platform (formerly Twitter), that “all presidents and governments in the past years renewed Riad Salameh as ruler of the Banque du Liban from outside the agenda, with the unanimous consent of ministers without exception!”
He pointed out that “a president once said: Riad Salameh is a red line, and a president said: If we change it, the dollar will slip away, and a president said: No one will change his officers in battle!”
He added, “Some of the media said: The campaign against Salameh is biased, and those who are prejudiced against him are destroying the national economy, and the most senior judges and agencies said: We did not find Riad Salameh in Lebanon to investigate him.”
And he continued, “In conclusion, if you read the “Alvarez” report well and some of the investigations abroad, you will find almost no one who has political, judicial, military, security, administrative, financial, media, religious, or other influence in the country, except that he plunged with Salameh into partnership or corruption. Or brokers or subsidized loans, organized looting, money smuggling, and deposit theft.
And he continued, “Therefore, as long as all of Salameh’s partners are still holding the state, the criminal audit report will sleep in the drawers, and do not hope for anything good from holding anyone accountable, and do not wait for someone to be prosecuted in Lebanon, and do not dream of recovering a penny.”
