JAKARTA – October 2011 marked the end of the Libyan dictatorship Muammar Gaddafi. He was overthrown by a NATO invasion, then brutally killed by a mob of rebels on the streets of his hometown; Sirte.

After nearly 12 years, Italy, which is also a member of NATO, blames the alliance for allowing Gaddafi to be killed by rebel mobs. According to Italy, after the Libyan dictator was overthrown and allowed to be killed, chaos has engulfed the country and the African region for years.

“He is certainly better than those who came later,” said Deputy Prime Minister who is also Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

“Allowing Gaddafi to be killed was a very serious mistake. He may not be a champion of democracy, but once he finished, political instability arrived in Libya and Africa,” he said.

Why Muammar Gaddafi was Killed

There are two versions about the perpetrators of the killing of Gaddafi. In the first version, the perpetrators were the rebel masses. In the second version, the culprit was a French secret agent carrying out orders from the then French president; Nicolas Sarkozy.
