Officials did not risk leaving an explicit excerpt.
The detective story “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed” overnight became a truly cult film. Viewers could not tear themselves away from the five-part film, and after the premiere of the next episode they discussed what they saw for several days. At the same time, not everyone realized that, according to Stanislav Govorukhin’s idea, the film looked a little different.
The fact is that, according to the original script, one of the episodes featured a bed scene between Sharapov’s lover Varya, played by Natalya Danilova, and the investigator himself. And Govorukhin even filmed the episode, but it was not included in the final edit.
As the censors noted, the scene turned out to be too explicit.
It contradicted the bright feeling between two Komsomol members: such a connection could not be shown on screens. The artists themselves did not appreciate the episode either. As Danilova later admitted, she did not want to appear naked on screens. According to Vladimir Konkin, who played Sharapov, he felt awkward during filming and immediately realized that the episode would not be included in the film.
