The first sod of a medical center was made today in Sozopol. The new acquisition in the ancient city will be in the district of Misarya. The Municipality of Sozopol signed a contract with the “Medical Center Dr. Madjurov” for the establishment of a remunerative right to build on the property.
The ceremony today was attended by regional governor Maria Neikova, mayor Tihomir Yanakiev, Dr. Alexander Madjurov, the chief architect of the Sozopol municipality Radost Georgieva, the chairman of the municipal council Georgi Pinelov, municipal councilors, representatives of the construction company “Buildniks” EOOD, media.
Mayor Tihomir Yanakiev explained how important the new acquisition is for the residents of Sozopol and for the guests of the city. He shared that he is excited because this medical center has been long awaited.
The mayor also said that he hopes that the project will be completed on time and of good quality. Actual construction will begin on October 1, and the completion period is 12 months.
The delay is due to the start of the construction ban on May 15, and breaking ground today was necessary because of necessary changes to the project, which take time to prepare. It is not about changes to the building, but about the internal distribution of the rooms, given the specifics of the medical center.
The regional governor, Maria Neikova, promised support from the state and the government for the project.
She specified that one of the helipads for emergency air medical assistance in the region will be on top of the new medical center.
Dr. Alexander Madjurov explained that he hesitated for a long time whether to start this project because the entire sector is experiencing great problems with the appointment of personnel. He asked the state to do what is necessary for more doctors to stay and work here.
During the summer, 100,000 people gather in Sozopol, and to help even just one of them, for us, it will mean that it was worth it, said Dr. Madjurov.

The project envisages the construction of a four-story building with an adjacent parking lot on PI with identifier 67800.503.539 and will house offices for general practitioners and imaging diagnostics, pediatric, cardiology, orthopedic, gynecological and other offices, a room for conducting hemodialysis, as well as a hospital for observation and treatment up to 24 hours.
The facility is included in the “Annual program for management and disposal of properties – Municipal property for 2023” and aims to provide better conditions for year-round medical care for the population.
