The construction of the inclusive intergenerational residence is progressing in Chartres

In the presence of the founding president of Habitat and Humanism, Bernard Devert, a few volunteers from the association met on Tuesday afternoon in Chartres to confirm the progress of the construction of the inclusive intergenerational residence despite the confinement and the crisis health of the coronavirus.

The association Habitat et Humanisme, whose purpose is to integrate people in difficulty through housing within the city, while supporting seniors in nursing homes and even refugees, has embarked on this adventure, it a few months ago. “Present in Eure-et-Loir, since 1998, we have a SCI of 39 apartments in Lucé, around thirty apartments in Chartres, Anet, Droue-sur-Drouette, Dreux and Châteaudun. We are still looking for housing that is well located in cities, with transport, shops and access to culture to better help the integration of people in difficulty, “explains Claude Vallée, Eurelian president of Habitat et Humanisme.

€ 3 million investment

The inclusive intergenerational residency project is located in the Saint-Brice sector, in Chartres, opposite the church. It has 60 rooms. “We acquired the land in 2018 with the aim of achieving the equivalent of homes for seniors but around young people and families to create a mutual aid dynamic between all age groups,” says Bernard Devert.

In fact, the real estate company is responsible for creating the land and the association provides daily support for people who are isolated and weakened by life or age. “We are going to build a meeting space, of solidarity with the volunteers. Besides, we need it now. If young retirees wish to join us, we are ready to welcome them to our premises on Avenue d’Aligre, “adds Claude Vallée. The site, which will be delayed due to the Covid-19, but which is scheduled for delivery in late 2021 or early 2022, will have cost nearly 3 million euros.
