From tonight, tram passengers in the south-eastern part of the metropolis have to reckon with a two-week tram exclusion. Construction work on the railway bridge over Průběžná Street will interrupt tram traffic for two weeks, resulting in better passability of the section. The measures will also affect buses and car traffic.
The closure is related to the ongoing modernization of the railway corridor between Hostivaří and Vršovice. The reason for the restriction will be the dismantling of the original bridge over Průběžná Street. Due to this, the operation of Radošovická – Nádraží Hostivař will be interrupted. The lockout will last until January 30. The measure also includes changes in the management of bus lines in the Garden City area.
During the closure, the Railway Administration will remove the current steel bridge, on which trains ran until last year. At the same time, the reinforced concrete bridge under the shortened waiting tracks will disappear. “These demolitions are a necessary precondition for the construction of the entire interchange in Průběžná Street, which the Railway Administration will implement during this year. Subsequently, the roadway will be widened and tram traffic will be separated from car traffic, which will improve the passability of the entire section for both types of transport. Completion of construction work in the area of Průběžná Street and the separation of tram traffic from automobile traffic is planned for September this year, “Said DPP in a press release.
