The construction of metro D will not begin until 2021. The coronavirus is to blame, the transport company clarified – ČT24 – Česká televize

Metro D is to help the southern part of Prague, which is dependent on bus transport, and in the future also to lighten line C. However, its route has not yet been cut, although according to the original plans of the transport company, construction was to begin these days.

“Before the coronary crisis, we said that we would like to start building this September. According to the current development, we could start building in the optimistic variant in the spring of next year, according to the pessimistic one half a year later, ie in the autumn of next year, “said Šabík.

He delayed the coronavirus pandemic, which prolonged the construction process and extended the deadlines for tenders. “During the emergency, the construction management processes ran much slower or in a limited mode,” explained a spokesman for the transport company.

He admitted that, in addition to coronavirus, objections to the Pankrác – Nové Dvory section also contributed to the delay. The transport company applied for a building permit at the end of last year. The company is also waiting for the decision of the Antimonopoly Office, which assesses the course of the tender for the construction contractor and the monitoring of the Pankrác – Olbrachtov section.

This summer, the geological survey ended in two of the four places, and the survey will continue for the remaining two until the summer of next year. The project envisages that the tunnels drilled as part of the geological survey will be possible to use during the construction itself.

In addition to the DPP survey, it evaluates the bids of bidders in the tender for construction contractors and monitoring between the Pankrác and Olbrachtova stations.

The first passengers will wait another seven years for a ride. “We would like to put the fourth line of the Prague metro into operation in the second half of 2028, but it will depend on when we will be able to start building the first section,” added a spokesman for the transport company.

Metro D will first run from Pankrác to Nové Dvory, then it will be extended further south to Písnice, where a new underground depot will be created. Then construction will start to the north, route D will lead to Peace Square. In the future, it could be extended even further, but it is not clear where the direction to Republic Square, but also to Žižkov and Vysočany.
