The Constitution is recovering its social meaning with the constitutional reforms promoted by the Fourth Transformation, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo stated this Friday.
Questioned in her daily press conference at the National Palace about the meeting she held the day before with Morena legislators, the president assured that she gave them a message of gratitude for the reforms made to the Magna Carta.
“It was an applause, a recognition,” he said when commenting on the closed-door meeting he had with deputies and senators at the National Palace. “They are the Constituent Assembly, I told you yesterday, of 2024, because the Constitution is being reformed for the good of the country and recovering its social and democratic sense.”
Sheinbaum Pardo asserted that the reforms had to be made to correct amendments approved during the neoliberal period. “The people, who were forgotten for so many years, today recover their participation in the Political Constitution, in democracy, in freedoms, in the recognition of rights, such as the rights of women.”
“Because no matter what our adversaries, the opposition, say, some who want to recover their privileges, their interests and privileges, the Constitution is a republican and democratic constitution that strengthens democracy itself,” he added.
