The console crisis continues – Nintendo is cutting back on Switch production

Nintendo had expected to produce around 30 million Switch consoles during the broken fiscal year ending March 30, 2022, but will only be able to produce 80 percent of it or 24 million units, reports Nikkei.

The background is, as usual, the global chip shortage and a spokesperson for Nintendo confirms the manufacturing problems for the magazine.

Last year, Nintendo sold almost 29 million Switch consoles, but now the company will probably not be able to sell the 25.5 million units it had expected this year. A total of 89 million units have been sold and Switch is close to breaking Wii’s old record as Nintendo’s best-selling TV-connected console.
