The Consequences of the Earth’s Revolution on the Rising and Setting Sun.

KOMPAS.com – Every region of the earth experiences day and night with different lengths of time. The difference in the length of time the sun rises and sets is a result of earth revolution.

The occurrence of day and night or the rising and setting of the sun is a result of the rotation of the earth. However, difference between sunrise and sunset time is the result of the revolution of the earth about the sun in an oblique axis.

Each region of the earth has a different time of sunrise and sunset. This is because the earth evolved in an elliptical (rather than circular) orbit and on a tilted axis of rotation.

Reported from NASA Solar System Exploration, the Earth’s axis has a tilt of about 23.4 degrees. In the first six months, the north pole is tilted toward the sun. But in the next six months, the south pole is tilted toward the sun.

As a result, one part of the earth will have a longer time from sunrise to sunset. That is, this part has a longer day than the rest of the earth.

While the opposite part of the earth will have a shorter time from sunrise to sunset. That is, this part has a longer night than the rest of the earth.

Reported from Wonderpolis, the tilt of the earth causes the longest day of the year to occur on the summer solstice (about June 21). That is, when the northern part of the earth is tilted toward the sun. So, the Northern Hemisphere has a long day.

Meanwhile, the shortest day of the year on earth occurs during the winter solstice (around December 21). That is, when the northern part of the earth is tilted away from the sun. Thus, the northern hemisphere experiences short days and cold winters.

The difference in the length of time the sun rises and sets will not occur if the earth’s axis is perpendicular to its orbit as it revolves around the sun.

Reported from Universe Todaythe upright axis will make all places on earth experience the same length of day and night, which is 12 hours.

That is, everywhere on the earth’s surface the sun will set exactly 12 hours after sunrise. However, it also means that there will be no seasons on earth.
