The highway congestion that started on the morning of the 13th, the day after Lunar New Year’s Day, is gradually being resolved, but it is still unable to achieve speed in some sections.
According to the Korea Expressway Corporation, as of 6 p.m. on the same day, around Dalraenae on the Gyeongbu line in the direction of Seoul-8 km from Banpo, 17 km from Bukcheonan-near Anseong Junction, 6 km from Mokcheon-near Cheonan Junction, 2 km from Cheongju Rest Area, Cheongju Traffic congestion is occurring in the 11km section between Junction and Oksan, near Geumho Junction.
In the direction of Busan on the Gyeongbu Line, the 4km section between Hannam and Seocho, the 1km section near Suwon, the Dongdaegu junction, and the Yangsan junction are not speeding up.
In the direction of Seoul on the West Coast Line, congestion continues in the vicinity of the Iljik Junction-Geumcheon 3km, Maesong Rest Area-Yongdam Tunnel 3km, Hwaseong Rest Area 3km, Dangjin-Seohae Bridge, and Gunsan.
Estimated time to Seoul from major cities at 7 PM is △ 4 hours 30 minutes in Busan △ 4 hours 10 minutes in Ulsan △ 2 hours 50 minutes in Gangneung △ 2 hours in Yangyang (arrival in Namyangju) △ 2 hours in Daejeon △ 3 in Gwangju Time 20 minutes △ Mokpo 3 hours 50 minutes △ Daegu 3 hours 30 minutes.
At the same time, the estimated time taken by car from Seoul to major cities in the region is △4 hours and 30 minutes in Busan △ 4 hours and 10 minutes in Ulsan △ 2 hours and 40 minutes in Gangneung △ 1 hour and 50 minutes in Yangyang (from Namyangju) △ 1 hour and 30 minutes in Daejeon △ Gwangju 3 hours 20 minutes △ Mokpo 3 hours 40 minutes △ Daegu 3 hours 30 minutes.
It is expected that 3.85 million vehicles will use the highway in the country on this day.
It is predicted that there will be 320,000 vehicles exiting the metropolitan area and 390,000 vehicles entering the metropolitan area.
The congestion on the expressway to Seoul is expected to continue until around 12 p.m. The congestion in the direction of Seoul is the most severe at 5-6 pm, and is expected to resolve around 10-11 pm.
The congestion on the highway to the provinces is expected to be resolved around 7-8 pm.
