It seems that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was originally intended as a DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, but was eventually released as a standalone title at full price. Unfortunately, the campaign didn’t live up to expectations and mostly felt like a mediocre DLC – and players aren’t happy.
As you may know, writing reviews or warning other people on social media about bad games is no longer enough, as review bombing seems to be the tool of choice when something doesn’t measure up. But this time, this is more difficult than ever, as Activision has already released a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 before (back in 2011). And proof of how stupid it is to give games the same name twice is now reported by the account Modern Warfare 3 News on X, which reveals that people are reviewing the wrong game.
The old Modern Warfare 3, which is generally regarded as one of the highlights of the entire series, is now receiving new hyper-negative reviews at a steady pace.
What do you think about review bombing and do you think the Call of Duty games have confusing names?
